When to Observe Safar Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Wedensday 11 November 2015) at 17:47 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Wedensday 11 November 2015) and (Thursday 12 November 2015) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Friday 13 November 2015 and in the Western Region will be on Friday 13 November 2015. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Martin Elsaesser from Munich City in Bavaria State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "I could observe the young crescent on 12. november under good sky conditions, with only some clouds in the west. The imaging system immediately showed the not to difficult questions some 20 minutes before sunset. I could also see it visually through the telescope with 33x magnification a few minutes before nominal sunset and afterwards. I could follow the crescent visually for more than 30 minutes after sunset until it got to low."



Ghana


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Baba Abdulai from Tamale City in Northern Region State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Baba Abdulai said: "The sky was very hazy during my observation. Sighting effort was made between the hours of 17:42 and 18:12 local time. The sky was so hazy that I could not even see the usual stars that appear soon after sunset. Due to the haze, I even had difficulty figuring out the exact area around which the sun had set until I saw a slightly brighter portion in the West-South-West Direction. And Allaah (SWT) Knows Best. Sighting community; Tampei-Kukuo Yepalsi, Near Bi-Water Reservoir, Tamale."



Hungary

Indonesia


1 . Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The daytime crescent of shafar 1437 AH was captured by ccd at AlBuruj Observatory Kudus by Mr. Joko Prasetyo and from Kupang NTT by Mr. Muhammad Yusuf - Bosscha Observatory. 
CASA Assalaam team also tried to capture the daytime crescent but the sky was totally cloudy."

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The new crescent of Shafar 1437 AH was not seen on Thursday 12 Nov 2015 from Assalaam Observatory, PPMI Assalaam Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java.
"

Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +3.5 GMT)
Equipments: two set of 15*70 binoculars, two sets of 20*90 binoculars, one sets of 20*80 binoculars, one sets of 25*100 binoculars , one compass.
Atmospheric condition: clear  
Horizon obstacles: about 2/5°
Apparent Sunset: 16:51
Apparent Moonset: 17:32
Results: Moon crescent was seen by 15*70 binoculars by Hossein Janghorbani at 17:05, for the first time. Other group members observed crescent by binoculars subsequently.

Mr. Qamarudeen Muhammad said: "Western sky was a little bit cl3a4 but the new hilaal was not seen"

Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi said: "The crescent Moon was sighted by both the telescope and by the aid of a camera mounted with the telescope."

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Nular Bary from Borella City in Colombo State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Nular Bary said: "Assalamualaikum WRWB.


Today 29th. of Muharram 1437H (12/11/2015) cloudy evening in Colombo. Anyway I tried to sight the new Moon of Safar 1437 today just after Maharib (5:57Pm)the western sky was covered with heavy clouds, I couldn't see even a star in the sky till 7Pm and no positive report received from any other location of Sri Lanka to our Colombo Grand Mosque Hillal Committee.Hence we'll complete the month of Muharram with 30 days and start the month of Safar on 14th Saturday November 2015 "In Sha Allah"

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdul Rahman Razeen from Colombo04 City in Western province State mentioned that the sky was totally cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdul Rahman Razeen said: "A.alaikum. Today 12-10 2015=29-1-1437H is the sighting day for the Month of Safar in Srilanka.The parameter's of the crescent are Lag=38mnts,Altitude=7deg,R.Azimuth=0deg,Result of the naked eye sighting=need optical aid to detect the crescent if the atmosphere is clear.
 My frequent sighting location is Coloombo-04. Due to the absent of the president Moulana Riyal (Baari) of the Hilal Committee of C.G.M. i have to attend the meeting.Today it was presided by Moulana Thasleem (Baari) along with Moulana Rila (Hasani) and Moulana Mazeen (Hasani).Due to overcast right all over the country it was reported negative sighting from the authority sighting groups.Hence it was declared to complete the month of Muharram 30 days and the first day of the month of Safar begins on Saturday 14th of November 2015."



United Kingdom


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "The Hilal of Safar 1437 AH was not sighted in the UK on Thursday 12th November 2015 (29th Muharram 1437 AH) as many places were cloudy. However, we have received a positive sighting report from Morocco Awqaf Ministry by fax. Therefore, the Wifaqul Ulama have decided that the month of Muharram 1437 AH will have 29-days and the month of Safar 1437 AH will start from Friday 13th November 2015, Insha-Allah."



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location (the Blacksburg Middle School) at 5:17 pm EST (sunset: 5:13 pm).  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I scanned the mostly clear western horizon.  My first binocular sighting was at 5:30 pm.  At 5:32 pm, the crescent was seen with naked eye.  The horns were at 3:00 and 7:00 O'clock (3:00;5:00;7:00).  I left the area at 6:00 pm when moon was still about 1.5 degrees above the horizon (moonset: 6:14 pm)."
