When to Observe Dhul Qeadah Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Tuesday 02 July 2019) at 19:16 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Tuesday 02 July 2019) and (Wedensday 3 July 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Thursday 04 July 2019 and in the Western Region will be on Thursday 04 July 2019. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Algeria


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdellatif Fareh from كوينين City in الوادي State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "لم أتمكن من رؤية الهلال بسبب وجود طبقة سحب كثيفة في الأفق الغربي، بالإضافة إلى امتلاء الأفق بغيدبار كثيف."



2 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Banouh Nouh Mefnoune from بني يزجن City in غرداية State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging

Germany


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Seen: ICOP member Eng. Martin Elsaesser from Munich City in Bavaria State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Eng. Martin Elsaesser said: "After a clear day i had hopes of observing the young crescent in the evening. There were some cloud bands in the west but the imaging system quickly showed the crescent even with a small lens. I could also see it repeatedly with 12x50 binoculars but that was not so easy and required precise focus. The numerous moscitos trying to eat me did not help."



Ghana


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdul-Aziz Anyang from Accra City in Greater Accra region State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdul-Aziz Anyang said: "Wednesday July 3, 2019 was the 29th Day of Shawaaal, 1440 AH.  As at 7pm (local time) in Ghana, no information of the New Crescent seen in all the regions in Ghana and hence Thursday July 4, 2019 is counted as the 30th Day of Shawaal 1440 AH.  Friday July 5, 2019 will then be the 1st Day of Zul Qad, 1440 AH   "



Indonesia


1 . Time of observation: After sunset.Seen by others: ICOP member Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi from Surakarta City in Central Java State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The waxing crescent of Dzulqodah 1440 AH was NOT Seen from Assalaam Observatory at PPMI Assalaam, Pabelan Kartasura Sukoharjo Central Java Indonesia on Wednesday, 03 July 2019. The sky partly cloudy.

The crescent was captured on CCD by mr. Achmad Junaidi from Balai Rukyat Ibnu Syatir Pondok Pesantren Al Islam Joresan Ponorogo East Java Indonesia."



2 . Time of observation: After sunset.Photographed: ICOP member Mr. Ahmad Junaidi from Ponorogo City in Jawa Timur State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was seen by CCD Imaging
Mr. Ahmad Junaidi said: "The crescent wa seen by ccd imaging from Balai Rukyat Ibnu Syatir Pondok Pesantren "Al-Islam" Joresan, Ponorogo, Indonesia at 17:35 - 17:40 LT. 9 minute after sunset. "



Iran


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Date: Wedensday, 07/03/2019
Location: Damzad foothills in the East of Shahreza (latitude: 32 00 N, longitude: 51 52 E, elevation: 1825m from sea level, time zone: +4.5 GMT)
Equipments: Three set of 15*70 binoculars, One set of 20*90 binoculars,  One set of 25*100 binoculars, One compass.
Atmospheric condition: partly cloudy and hazy
Horizon obstacles: about 2.5°
Apparent Sunset: 20:01
Results: Moon crescent was not seen by binocular.

Ms. Basma Dhiab said: "The crescent was seen by a team of the Jordanian Astronomical Society and ICOP. The first one to see it was Ibraheem Odwan then Basma Diab and Adli Halabi. In addition to a family( Mr. Waleed Quaisi and his wife Hala and their nice baby). Some people were walking and joined us by chance. The sky was very clear so it was an opportunity to observe Jupiter and its moons.

Mr. Walid Jadar said: "لم تتم رؤية الهلال في الجهة الشرقية من المغرب بينما تمت رؤية الهلال بتلسكوب بمحافظة افران وتمت ايضا رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة بمحافطة العيون جنوب المملكة ."

Mr. Abdullah Seddek said: "حاولنا طيلة ساعة كاملة بعد الغروب أن نرى الهلال و لم نره رغم الصفاء التام للجو و خلوه من الغيوم عند شاطئ الغروب في مدينة الخبر"

United Kingdom

Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was clear, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "I had gone to a good location in the outskirts of York to observe the sunset well before sunset time and did a live stream on ICOUK Facebook. The sky was absolutely clear near the horizon and the sunset was seen easily. I waited until Moonset with a pair of binoculars but I was still unable to see the moon due to its low altitude on the horizon. However, we have received positive sighting reports from nearby countries, including Morocco, Alhamdulillah."



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location a few minutes before sunset (sunset 8:47 pm EDT).  Using a pair of binoculars (7X50), I started scanning a mostly cloudy western horizon with no success.  I left the place at 9:49 pm (moonset: 9:49 pm)."

Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "Once again, I was trying to spot the crescent moon of Dhul Qaidah 1440 from York (UK), but it was totally cloudy before and after sunset (as shown on the attached photos). However, I am pleased to report that many observers from the London area of the UK had better luck and were able to see the moon easily by the naked eye, Alhamdulillah."

Mr. Abdellatif Fareh said: "تمت رؤية الهلال بالعين المجردة، و قد طلع الهلال ساعة و 21 دقيقة قبل شر ق الشمس، و ظلت رؤيته متاحة حتى بعد الشروق."

Mr. Abdul-Aziz Anyang said: "It was seen by a member of our Platform group in the Greater Accra region of Ghana.  Members on this platform group - MOON ISSUES ONLY- covers the whole regions in Ghana.  This was the 27th phase counted from the first time it was seen on the evening of Tuesday June 4, 2019 after the sun had set."

Mr. AR Sugeng Riyadi said: "The waning crescent of Shawal 1440 AH was not seen from Rowasiya Observatory at Bendo Ketitang Juwiring Klaten Central Java Indonesia on Tuesday, 02 July 2019. The moon was captured by CCD by mr. Achmad Junaidi at Gontor Ponorogo East Java Indonesia."
