When to Observe Jumadal Al-Aula Waxing (NEW) Crescent ?


The geocentric conjunction (Geocentric New Moon) will occur Inshalla on (Sunday 06 January 2019) at 01:28 UT.

Sighting the new crescent on (Sunday 06 January 2019) and (Monday 7 January 2019) is shown in the below graphs using the program Accurate Times by Mohammad Odeh according to Odeh criterion. Where:-

According to the Universal Hejric Calendar (UHC), which is based on the calculated crescent visibility, the start of this month in the Eastern Region will be on Monday 07 January 2019 and in the Western Region will be on Monday 07 January 2019. Kindly notice that the UHC is a pre-calculated calendar, which adopts a certain criterion to start the new Hejric month. Your country/organization might adopt different criterion to start the new Hejric month. So it is highly advised to read the UHC website before giving any judgment.

Not Seen: ICOP member Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane from الناظور City in الشرق State mentioned that the sky was clear, the atmospheric condition was superb, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Mr. Abdessamad Doukkane said: "شاركت جمعية المبادرة المغربية للعلوم والفكر مراقبة هلال جمادى الاولى 1440 هـ مع مندوبية وزارة الاوقاف والشؤون الاسلامية بالناظور, وكانت النتيجة عدم ثبوت رؤية الهلال.
وقد تلقت الجمعية عبر حسابها في الفايسبوك عدم ثبوت رؤية الهلال بعدة مدن: الرباط-طنجة-تاوريرت-وجدة-العيون-الداخلة"

Mr. Simwal Jibril said: "The crescent sighting attempt was done by a group but I wasn’t part of it "



Oman


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi from Al-Fulaij Obseravtory City in Muscat State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was very hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not seen by telescope, the crescent was not seen by CCD Imaging
Prof. Mohammed Al-Bussaidi said: "Today : Sunday, 6 January, 2019:  
  Sighting of Jumadah Al-Awal (Al-Ula)1440 H

The weather was so very hazy, dusty and clouds in the western horizon - as such the Crescent Moon was not sighted today."

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Eng. Qamar Uddin from York City in North Yorkshire State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not seen by naked eye, the crescent was not sought by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Eng. Qamar Uddin said: "I went to a good location well before sunset time to identify the sunset position and waited until well after sunset, but the moon was not sighted (see attached photos). I hope everyone tries to take a photo of the Hilal tomorrow, 7 Jan 2019, InshaAllah."



United States


1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Not Seen: ICOP member Dr. Javad Torabinejad from Blacksburg City in Virginia State mentioned that the sky was partly cloudy, the atmospheric condition was hazy, the crescent was not sought by naked eye, the crescent was not seen by binocular, the crescent was not sought by telescope, the crescent was not sought by CCD Imaging
Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at sunset (5:19 pm EST).  Using two pairs of binoculars (7X35 and 10X50), I started scanning the western horizon.  The lower portion of the horizon was partly cloudy and hazy.  With no success, I ended the session at about moonset (moonset: 6:01 pm)."

1 . Time of observation: After sunset. Dr. Javad Torabinejad said: "I arrived at my sighting location at 6:05 pm EST (sunset: 5:20 pm).  The sky was mostly cloudy and hazy.  I waited for the moon to appear in an opening very low in the horizon.  At 6:38 pm, the moon appeared in the opening.  I used a pair of binoculars (7X50) to locate the horns.  They were at approximately 2:30 and 7:30 O'clock (2:30;5:00;7:30).  By 6:50 pm the moon was not visible anymore (moonset: 6:55 pm)."
